Label Name Criteria for Use
Biohazard ABSL-2 Only for laboratories that have been approved for BSL-2 research. Contact Biosafety Team for approval at 517-432-5019.

Corrosive Material CHP 5.1.2.3 If a laboratory has 10 gallons or more of a corrosive liquid, the main doorway to the lab shall have a hazard warning sticker sticker visibly posted on it to indicate the potential hazard. This is an aid to fire response personnel.
Cryogenic Liquid
Ear Protection Required Use if noise level in lab is 85 decibels or greater 1910.95.I1, TWA = 85db.
Flammable Gas Use if the lab has at least 1/2 the max allowable quantity=2 x 150lb cylinders or more.
Flammable Solvents CHP 5.1.2.3. If a laboratory has 10 gallons or more of a flammable liquid, the main doorway to the lab shall have a hazard warning sticker sticker visibly posted on it to indicate the potential hazard. This is an aid to fire response personnel.
Laser Light Use if lab contains a laser of any class. Class 3B and 4 laser rooms require additional signage and signal lights.
Magnetic Hazard Use if the lab has an NMR or MRI.
Radioactive Equipment (contact radiation safety staff before selecting) Requires approval from Radiation Safety Team.

Ultraviolet Light Place on or near areas where UV lights may be on for prolonged periods for decontamination of disinfection of surfaces.
Wear Safety Glasses Use where safety glasses or eye protection is mandatory 100% of the time in the lab. Contact Chemical Safety Team before selecting.
X-Ray Place where one may be exposed to x-ray radiation. Requires approval of Radiation Safety Team.
