Asbestos Information For Laboratory Users Summary of asbestos hazards that may be present in a laboratory setting. Does not fulfill requirements of MIOSHA Asbestos Awareness Initial training. If you perform custodial activities on or around presumed asbestos-containing materials, you must instead schedule a live two-hour asbestos awareness course. Chemical Training
Chemical Hygiene, Laboratory Safety, And Hazardous Waste Required for all employees of MSU laboratories containing hazardous chemicals. Must be completed before receiving work assignments. Fulfills requirements under the MIOSHA Rules for Hazardous Work in Laboratories and the Michigan Hazardous Waste Management Act. Chemical Initial Training

Refresher Training
Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety Required for workers handling compressed gases. Covers physical and health hazards, proper use, storage, handling, and transport. Chemical Training
Cryogen Safety Required for workers handling cryogen cylinders. Covers physical and health hazards, proper use, storage, handling, and transport. Chemical Training
Formaldehyde Safety Required for faculty and staff who teach and/or work in human and veterinary anatomy labs, and related anatomy spaces, where formalin preserved tissue is used and stored. May be required for faculty and staff who work with formalin preserved tissue or formalin in clinical or research areas, depending on the amount of formalin in the area and the potential for exposure above 0.1 ppm. Fulfills the general training requirements under the MIOSHA Occupational Health Standard for Formaldehyde, Part 306. Chemical Initial Training
